Gnzo cooperates to the Projection Mapping at the Campus Festival of Musashino Art University

Gnzo lent a hand in transmitting the Projection Mapping images at the finale event of the Campus Festival of Musashino Art University.

We shot videos of images that were projected onto the walls of the university museum with live-cameras from three directions, and combined them into a single video with Gnzo technology and transmitted this via Ustream.
( It was a pity that due to network connection complications, we were not able to transmit some of the earlier parts of the Projection Mapping… )

Test images of video transmission from live-cameras shooting from three directions

We at Gnzo call this technology of combining multiple numbers of live videos into one video “Multi-live Imaging.”
The technology is still in its research stage, but we hope to work on it to make it available as a service as soon as possible to provide users with a new video experience.

We would like to thank Creative Studio ANSWR and the visual production group Voxel for giving Gnzo this wonderful opportunity.

<What is Projection Mapping?>
Projection mapping is a visual expression technique that beams video from a projector onto a target building, and by adjusting the videos in accordance with the shape of the building, can make the building seem as if it is moving or make it look like a totally different building.

The most clipped video in October!-

The most clipped video in October 2012 was “Leap, leap, leap!” by world9!
It is a video sure to make anyone watching it smile.

So cute that the child leaps up to show his face in tune with his mother’s(father’s?) call!
The apple bib is a nice match to the horizontal stripe of his clothes, too.
Must be bliss to see him grow up!

We will definitely be waiting for wonderful videos from world9 in the future, too.
Congratulations!

*At the beginning of each month, the “Most Clipped Video” of the previous month is posted.

Gnzo at DCEXPO 2012 report

As previously reported in this blog, Gnzo had an exhibit booth and presented demos at the Digital Contents EXPO 2012, held October 25 to October 27 at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Technology (Miraikan) in Odaiba, Tokyo.

Digital Contents EXPO is an annual international event that brings together researchers, creators, and business people, counting more than 20,000 visitors last year.
Gnzo staff welcomed the visitors wearing our Gnzo T-shirts!

We were able to meet many people active in wide range of fields at this EXPO, from students interested in videos to people who are already involved in visual-related works.

DCEXPO 2012 provided us with a wonderful opportunity to have many people actually touch Gnzo technology, and we are really glad to have been received with much interest.
The feedbacks and suggestions from the visitors were also certainly wonderful stimuli for us Gnzo staff.

Many thanks to all the visitors that dropped by the Gnzo exhibit booth!
And we also appeared on DCEXPO TV which was broadcasted live through USTREAM. So check that out, too!

Radio Appearance

Gnzo president Toshikazu Shinohara was a guest the other day on the radio program “GINZA SWING!!” broadcasted by the SORAxNIWA Project.

To explain just in words what Gnzo is all about is not easy, but helped by the talk skills of the show hosts that were so rhythmical and clear, we were able to chat about all sorts of things. The talk even went beyond the scheduled on-air time!

SORAxNIWA Project is providing an information diffusion forum that combines radio, events and shopping into one.

The “GINZA SWING!!” program is broadcasted from a studio set on the rooftop of Matsuzakaya department in Ginza. SORAxNIWA Project also broadcasts from their Harajuku studio, and is active in all sorts of interesting activities.

After this wonderful encounter, Gnzo and SORAxNIWA Project agreed that we definitely should collaborate on something interesting in the future.

We can’t wait to see what will come out of this possibility!

Gnzo Clip Contest website now open !

The website for Gnzo Clip Contest hosted by Gnzo is now open as of today.

Gnzo Clip Contest is a video contest with a new look and feel for video artworks using the iPhone App Gnzo. This contest has been held two times in the past, and both contests attracted many entries that made wonderful use of the Gnzo feature which playbacks videos as a “Group.”

At the website, we are going to post artworks from these previous contests as well as notices for the next contest and interviews of past Grand Prix winners.

As one of the first contents, interview of Mr. Tetsuya Tatamitani, Grand Prix winner for GCC 2012 Spring is now on the GCC website. He talks about how he weaved multiple videos into one video artwork with Gnzo community users very much in mind, and how he calculated elaborately to recreate seemingly ordinary, everyday scenery. It is a very interesting read, so make sure to check it out.

GCC secretariat is now working out plans for the 3rd Contest.

As soon as the details become official, we will be announcing them on the GCC website, as well as this blog, Facebook and Twitter. If you are interested in videos, are creative, or just have come up with a good idea to have fun with multiple videos as a “Group,” we are definitely waiting for your entry.

With the Gnzo app now renewed, the next contest is sure to be even more exciting!

*Presently, we are accepting GCC entries only from residents of Japan.

The official version of Gnzo Service was launched!!-

I’m Shinohara, the CEO of Gnzo.
I am pleased to announce that we have released the official version of Gnzo Service at the “DEMO Fall 2012” in the U.S.
Gnzo Service consists of the iPhone App2.0.0, Web services, and a Blog Widget that links it to the Web service.
Also, with the release of this new service, we will begin providing API to corporations on a full scale.

In “DEMO Fall 2012,” of the over 70 companies to be selected from 14 countries, Gnzo was the only company to take part in it from Japan.
DEMO is a highly reputable event in the Silicon Valley that serves as a launch pad for new services but this is the first time in a few years that a Japanese company has been selected.

I hope that this will give you confidence in Gnzo as we continue to move forward.
